Terms and Conditions

The rules of using Zetta Calculators. We've tried to keep this in plain English.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Zetta Calculators (the "Site") and any tools, calculators, or content offered through it (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Calculator outputs are estimates based on the inputs you provide and the assumptions documented on each page.

For decisions that depend on your specific situation — such as a mortgage, a tax filing, a medical question, a legal contract, or an engineering specification — you should consult a qualified, licensed professional who can review your full circumstances. See our Disclaimer page for more detail.

5. Intellectual property

All content on the Site — calculator code, formulas as written, articles, illustrations, design — is owned by Zetta Calculators or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The mathematical formulas themselves (e.g., compound interest, BMI) are not owned by anyone and remain in the public domain; our written explanations and code are not.

You may quote short excerpts from our articles for educational purposes with attribution. Republishing entire articles or substantial portions requires written permission.

6. User-generated content

If you submit content via our contact form, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to read, store, and respond to that content. We will not publish your message, name, or email without your explicit consent.

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services. Those links are provided as a convenience. We don't endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site. Your interactions with third parties are governed by their own terms and policies.

The Site and Service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or freedom from defects.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zetta Calculators, its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including but not limited to lost profits, lost savings, lost data, loss of goodwill, or losses arising from financial, medical, or legal decisions made in reliance on the Site — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If, despite the above, we are found liable to you for any claim, our total cumulative liability arising out of or related to your use of the Site shall not exceed USD $50 or the amount you paid us for access to the Site in the preceding twelve months (whichever is greater). Since the Site is free, that amount is typically $50.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zetta Calculators and its owners from any claim, demand, or damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, without notice, for any reason — including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Site at any time. Sections 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. (If you operate the Site from a different jurisdiction, you should adapt this clause accordingly with a local attorney.)

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Effective date" at the top and post a notice on the homepage. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

15. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and Zetta Calculators regarding the Site, superseding any prior agreements.
